Northeast Trip: Day 1

The first day of our trip was fun. We got to Providence, Rhode Island just after lunch and spent some time driving around Providence (in our rented Chevy Cobalt! Jealous? :-)) We drove through Brown University and stopped for lunch in Pawtucket, Massuchusetts.

Last night we ate at a good Italian restaurant in Bedford, Massachusetts, and then drove through an area where the film "Mystic River" was shot. The neighborhoods looked like something right out of the movies--lots of tough-looking guys in jerseys and gold chains sitting on their stoops or working on their cars.

Everyone was out and about in the parks and neighborhoods wearing their Boston Celtics jerseys because last night just so happened to be Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Celtics and Lakers right here in Boston.

We stayed up to see Boston win the game and the NBA title, but we didn't participate in pre-dawn festivities or light our hotel room sofa on fire or anything. We had been up since 4 a.m. so we were exhausted.

We're headed to Harvard this morning over in Cambridge and then on up the coast to Portland, Maine. The weather is perfect--low 60s this morning and sunshine.

Glad you're having a good time. You should wander into a Harvard classroom and play like you're solving a math equation.
