Staycation and SeaWorld

DSC_0370-1

We enjoyed a fun staycation with my parents and the Olsons earlier this week.  We are trying to do some sort of vacation with my family every year.  Last year we did South Padre Island.  This year we looked into a few things and decided we should just enjoy my parents’ house on the lake.  When I was little, our vacations were usually a week at Lake LBJ. Now my parents live on that lake so we might was well  enjoy it like it is a vacation spot.  We went out in the boat and went tubing.  The kids swam and played.  We even did a “campfire” one night (in my parents’ fire pit) at Luke’s request and roasted marshmallows.  My parents rented a jet ski for a few hours and Luke really loved riding on that.

On Monday, my parents kept Ethan and Eli and the rest of us drove to San Antonio to go to SeaWorld.  It was HOT.  It was fun but SeaWorld is just not run as well as Disney World.  We had to stand in line 30 minutes just to get in, which made Luke and Lily both a little grouchy. Once we were in, Luke and Lily enjoyed seeing the animals and riding a few rides.  We definitely didn’t get to do all that SeaWorld offers but I’m glad we took them.  And I am SO glad we didn’t have the babies with us.  They would have been miserable.

Today I took Luke to school and his teacher said she missed him.  I told her we were at SeaWorld.  She said to Luke, “Oh, did you see Shamu?” and Luke said, “I got popcorn.”  Apparently the highlight of the trip was the popcorn we ate while watching the Shamu show.
