Don’t miss the little update I did about Ethan’s birthday below this post.
I’m catching up on some blogging. We are all moved in! We still have to hang pictures and do some decorating but the boxes are unpacked and this place feels like home. I want to post pictures when it is “finished” --but really-- is it ever really finished? But I will at least wait until we have hung the pictures to post some pictures of the rooms. I absolutely love the house and feel so blessed. It has so much storage and it is so nice to have a place to put everything. We are looking forward to our first houseguest tomorrow night and we are trying to get the guest bedroom ready for David.
I hate moving period—but moving with two small kids is even less fun. Moving with kids is on my list of things to NEVER. DO. AGAIN. We even had LOTS of help from family and it was still hard. But the worst is definitely behind us and we can enjoy the house now. January through now just feels like a blur because of staging the house, having it on the market, selling it, being homeless, getting this house painted, and moving in. It was a lot. And everything didn’t go as smoothly as it could have (the painters GREATLY underestimated how long it would take to paint all of the trim) but in the end it all worked out and we have many, many years to look forward to in this house.
Here are some pictures of three random things I love about the house:
1. Nice appliances. The dishwasher at our old house was so loud we couldn’t run it until we went to bed and even then we could hear it through our closed door. In fact, we are both really surprised it passed the inspection. We thought we might have to replace it. This one is super quiet and the controls are on top so Ethan can’t mess with it. We also bought a new fridge and are so happy to have ice and water in the door! I know that isn’t new technology but we had a very basic fridge before so this one feels super nice to us.
2. A pretty front door. I have always wanted a pretty front door with glass that let light in. We may replace the handle at some point but we love the door (the picture isn’t that great).
3. And once again—the trees. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having trees! I’m so glad we didn’t end up compromising on that and giving up on our dream of having a shady yard. If you know
Mark, you know he obviously has big plans for the landscaping in the yard so keep that in mind when you see the pictures.
