The Coolest Movie...Ever!

We went to see U2 3D last night at the IMAX. I just want to say....run to your nearest IMAX theater and see this movie!! It is AMAZING! I loved it so much and Jeff (the biggest U2 fan I know) even said it was possibly cooler than going to an actual concert because you get to see everything so close. I still want to go to a real concert someday but last night is probably the closest I'll ever get to Bono, The Edge, Adam, and Larry. Like Shauna said, so many of their songs are about Jesus (2 of my favorites are Yahweh and 40 (taken from Psalm 40) and I just think the music is incredible.

Mom and Dad bravely volunteered to watch Luke and Lily at our house so we (me, Mark, Shauna, Jeff and David) could all go to dinner and the IMAX. They definitely had their hands full with a 16-month old and a six-month old. It all went well. Luke was sound asleep when we got home; Lily was happy as always.

I am glad to see the sun shining again. It has been so nice the past 2 days and Luke was able to do his favorite thing--go outside. It was a loooong week last week when we really couldn't go outside because of the cold and rain.

Luke is saying new things all the time. He tries to repeat most things we say, and he likes to fill in words when we pause while reading his books. Sometimes he really surprises me when he knows what word to say. Two of my favorite things he is saying right now are: "urk" (work) and "ome" (home). I'll say, "Luke, where's Daddy?" and he says "urk." And whenever we turn onto the street that leads to our house, Luke starts repeating, "ome," several times. He can also say: Nana (for my mom), Ammy (Grammy--Mark's mom), PawPaw (Mark's Dad). We are still working on Grandad for my dad. He also says: Iyee (Lily), Auna (Shauna), and just today he said Eff (Jeff) f0r the first time. Uncle David is Dada, just like Mark. Luke still hasn't figured out the whole identical twin thing. Although when Mark and David are together, Luke usually knows which one is Dada and which one is Uncle David. But when they are separate, Luke definitely thinks David is his Dada.

Our Saturday Night Plans

16 Months Old

Luke is 16 months old today! For the past two days, his Elmo toothbrush has been his constant companion as seen in the picture below:

I guess there are worse things he could be attached to. At least this is small and easily replaceable, although I don't even want to think about the germs it is picking up from being taken all over the place.

Don't forget to check out our Project 365 album. We have been keeping up with it for the most part and are usually current or only one day behind. The sad thing is that I keep forgetting to bring the camera when we go to the park or go and do something so the majority of the pictures are of Luke at home. We do get out! I promise.

Saturday Afternoon with Uncle David

David looked after Luke today so we could have the afternoon to go see a movie. He's quite the babysitter. He fed Luke lunch, took him to the park, read some books, played in the backyard and even put Luke down for an hour nap in the afternoon (which is no small feat especially on a Saturday).

We saw Juno at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar. The movie was excellent!

Like Father Like Son

Luke's face plant at the playgroup on Thursday wasn't the first time a James boy's face has come into direct contact with the pavement.

In 1983, I was rolling down our inclined driveway on my skateboard on my stomach and ran over a stick. The skateboard stopped; I kept going.

I guess the carrot helped take away some of the pain.

A Rough Day at Playgroup

We moved the playgroup to the playground at Central Market today to enjoy the beautiful weather. Luke and the other kids seemed to have a great time. I had a hard time getting any of Luke playing with the other kids because he did his own thing most of the time. I did manage to get one of Luke and Nathan "playing."

I think we had been there about 30 minutes when Luke sustained his first playground injury. He tripped over the plastic divider between the playground and the rest of the area and fell face down into the dirt. He fell pretty hard. He cried hard for about a minute and was covered in dirt. I didn't see any blood. Luckily, Luke spotted two dogs and stopped crying and wanted me to let him down so he could run go see the dogs. It was only after he played with the dogs a little bit that I noticed a little bit of blood on his forehead and his nose. He looks pretty banged up but it hasn't seemed to bother him at all. He is his usual happy self.

LOST Returns!

It's been a long eight months without LOST. I guess we can wait three more weeks.

A New Car!

We are the proud owners of a 2006 Honda Accord! Mark's parents, Jim and Sharon, made us an AMAZING deal on this car after they got a new car. We are so thankful for their generosity and feel extremely blessed. We even have XM satellite radio now, which we are very excited about!

I was inspired by the Watsons and the Olsons to make a "Project 365" album and try to take a picture every day. I have my doubts that I will be able to take a picture every day but at least I will get one most days. I also have a feeling that the vast majority of the pictures will be of Luke. He's my favorite photography subject. Click on the album to see the pictures. I also added the link on the right side of our blog.

David's Party

Luke spent the at Nana and Granddad's on Friday night for the first time so we could go to David's party at his new house. It was a lot of fun! Check out David's blog for the photos of everyone rocking out to Rock Band. I think we're going on tour.

Resolutions

I have several goals/resolutions that I won't share here, but here are three of my goals:

1. Stop drinking Dr. Pepper! I am 2 days into my no Dr. Pepper goal and I am doing okay. We poured out all the DP we had in the house just in case I had a moment of weakness.

2. Be more organized! Fortunately Mark keeps the clutter pretty pared down in our house, but I want to keep everything more organized and stop accumulating so much stuff. I am notorious for saving things for a "special occasion" which never seems to occur.

We bought this neat little thing at Ikea today to organize the toys in Luke's play area. I L-O-V-E having an Ikea 5 minutes from our house!

3. Take more pictures! I want to learn how to use our new camera and take lots of pictures throughout the year.

Here is one of my favorites from yesterday of Luke and Mark playing in the backyard.
